Your privacy on Knight Boards

What we store, and why

• Game data. The moves, clocks and result of each game are stored on our servers so that both players see the same board and can reconnect to a game in progress. Games contain no personal information — there are no usernames or profiles.
• Browser storage. We use your browser's local storage to remember your seat at a game (a random token) and your sound on/off preference. This data stays on your device, is not used to track you, and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.
• Contact messages. If you use the contact form, we receive the email address and message you provide. We use them only to reply to you, and we send you a confirmation email at the address you gave.
• Technical logs. Like almost every website, our server keeps short-lived technical logs (such as IP addresses of requests) for security and to keep the service running — including limiting abuse of the contact form.

What we don't do

• We don't require accounts or collect names, and we don't build profiles of players.
• We don't sell or share your information with anyone for marketing.
• We don't show ads inside a game in progress.

Third-party services

Pages on Knight Boards load fonts and styling from third-party content delivery networks (Google Fonts and the Tailwind CSS CDN). When your browser fetches those files, those providers receive standard technical request data such as your IP address, subject to their own privacy policies.

Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use Knight Boards — for example which pages are visited and roughly where visitors come from. Google Analytics sets cookies and receives standard technical data (such as your IP address and browser details), governed by Google's privacy policy. We use this data only in aggregate; it does not identify you to us. Analytics cookies are set only if you accept them in the cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time via Cookie settings in the footer.

Advertising. We may in future show advertising (such as Google AdSense) on content pages — never during a game. If we do, advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies, we will update this policy first, and where required we will ask for your consent before any advertising cookies are set.

Your choices and rights

You can clear your browser's local storage at any time to forget your game seats and preferences. You can ask us to delete contact-form correspondence we hold from you, or ask what we hold, by writing to us — use the contact form. Depending on where you live, you may have additional legal rights over your personal data (for example under UK/EU data protection law), and we will honour them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how Knight Boards handles data — for example when advertising launches — we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect.
